Art Deco Corbel
Elegant, fitting replacement for 1930's house in limestone and chrome.

Designed by John Cooper, this fireplace is for an attractive and unusual 1930’s house with original Art Deco detailing to the interior. The exterior façade is in natural stone with Bath stone window sills, mullions and keyed lintels. The original fireplace was missing, replaced in the 1980’s by something that resembled a garden wall.

The final design was relatively tall, uncluttered and modernist. The inspiration for the Art Deco corbels came from the original door plates of the house, and these elements provide the connection to the period of construction, allowing the new chimney piece to reflect and complement the mixture of styles in the original building.
