Somerset Farmhouse Inglenook
Restoration of farmhouse inglenook fireplace. Removal of Rayburn, restoration of stonework and installation of a modern wood burning stove.

An extensive restoration project on an 18th century farmhouse,

Work included:

  • Removal of an existing Rayburn,
  • The original inglenook excavated and modern blockwork removed.
  • The stonework was repaired, we laid a flagstone hearth, stonework joints raked and pointed with lime mortar.
  • Finally we installed a large Vermont Defiant stove, including 8” liner system with a large register plate inside the inglenook.
