Convector Firebox with Log Store

Convector Firebox with Log Store

Lightweight first floor solution for contemporary house with no chimney.

An upstairs living area, (with no chimney or flue) in which the client wished to install an open fire.

The installation has a raised Tortoise convector firebox over a slate lined log store, both for aesthetic reasons and to meet building regulations which would otherwise require a constructional hearth.

We recommended a convector firebox which has a dramatically improved efficiency over an open fire. The fire has a new steel flue, compliant with Building Regulations. The whole structure is lightweight, designed to sit on a conventional wooden joist floor, with the chimney breast in steel studwork and fireproof board.
