Product 5/41
Our client had built a stunning contemporary vaulted ceiling family room at the rear of his house – but had omitted a fireplace. We suggested using an under-stairs cupboard to house a large landscape woodburning stove. With the client we chose a Stovax Riva Studio Edge.
The wall housing the fire was replaced with steel studs, refractory board rated to 800 degrees F and a glass-fabric finish identical to plaster to achieve a safe and crack-free finish. Completing the installation was a satin granite hearth and a new twin-wall insulated flue, powder coated to match the exterior walls and fitted through the soffit to minimise visual impact. The stove now provides a focal point in the room, and a source or comfortable and efficient radiant heat to complement and enhance the underfloor heating.
